Caldwell County 4-H Youth Development

We are empowering youth to be proactive citizens!

Youth engaged with Caldwell County 4-H are interpersonally connected, involving their “head, heart, hands and health,” and learning through partnerships and experiences.

We offer a variety of ways to participate from Summer Exploring programming to Club membership and leadership development. We also partner to host a number of educational enrichment opportunities for school age children. To learn more, contact 4-H Youth Development, Cooperative Extension Agent, Darlene Berry at 828.757.1257 or darlene_berry@ncsu.edu

Junior Beef Heifer Show

The Junior Beef Heifer Show is held every year in conjunction with the Caldwell Agricultural Fair. Kids from ages 5 to 21 show cattle in two types of settings, Open Show and Showmanship. You do not have to live on a farm or own an animal to be a Show Person. There are opportunities to connect with local farmers so that you can learn what it takes to have a show animal and how to be the best at showing. To learn more contact Seth Nagy at The Ag Extension Office by phone 828-757-1290 or e-mail at seth.nagy@ncsu.edu

Caldwell Junior Fair Board

The Caldwell Junior Fair Board is made up of kids from 5 to 18 years old. They help organize and run the Exhibit Hall during Fair Week. They operate a small concession daily selling ice cream, coffee, hot chocolate and candy bars. Money raised helps pay for needed repairs and updates to the Exhibit Hall. There are currently 6 members and 1 advisor. If you are interested in being a Junior Fair Board Member contact the fair office at 828-728-7050 or Revonda Cassavaugh at 828-758-0617. We would love to have you on our team of “Kids Growing Thru Agriculture”
